Manually Removing Office 2007 (manual uninstall)

Note

If you are planning to remove office 2007 manually because you have an error “office <word/excel...> is not installed for the current user”

then there are two possible causes

  1. you are using a genuine version of office 2007 and something went wrong with an update or some thing happened unexpected by the program

  2. you used an activation patch on your office 2007 copy that was downloaded from the internet and then updated it to SP2 or later manually or using windows update

Now if it was the first then you may have tried reinstalling to no avail and want to remove all traces of office 2007 to reinstall, well this guide is for you.(found at microsoft knowledge base)

But if it is the second reason then you simply need to reapply the activation patch!

    1. Name: UninstallString

    2. Data: file_name path\Office Setup Controller\Setup.exe path
Note In this example, file_name is a placeholder for the name of an installation program, and path is a placeholder for the file path.

  5. If the subkey contains the name and the data that are described in step 4, click Delete on the Edit menu. Otherwise, go to step 4.

  6. Repeat steps 4 and 5 until you locate and then delete every subkey that matches the name and the data that are described in step 4.

  7. Close Registry Editor.

Step 6: Restart the computer

CIA Assassin Training

Technorati Tags:

The CIA had an opening for an assassin. After all of the background checks, interviews, and testing were done there were three finalists — two men and one woman. For the final test, the CIA agents took one of the men to a large metal door and handed him a gun.

"We must know that you will follow your instructions, no matter what the circumstances. Inside this room you will find your wife sitting in a chair. You have to kill her.”

The first man said, “You can’t be serious. I could never shoot my wife."

The agent replies, “Then you’re not the right man for this job."

The second man was given the same instructions. He took the gun and went into the room. All was quiet for about five minutes. Then the agent came out with tears in his eyes. “I tried, but I can’t kill my wife.”

The agent replies, “You don’t have what it takes. Take your wife and go home.”

Finally, it was the woman’s turn. Only she was told to kill her husband. She took the gun and went into the room. Shots were heard, one shot after another. They heard screaming, crashing, banging on the walls. After a few minutes, all was quiet. The door opened slowly and there stood the woman. She wiped the sweat from her brow and said, “You guys didn’t tell me the gun was loaded with blanks. I had to beat him to death with the chair.”

Just A little Oxidane

Technorati Tags: ,

A student , In his project  urged people to sign a petition demanding strict control or total elimination of the chemical
"Oxidane."
And for plenty of good reasons, since:
1. it can cause excessive sweating and vomiting
2. it is a major component in acid rain
3. it can cause severe burns in its gaseous state
4. accidental inhalation can kill you
5. it contributes to erosion
6. it decreases effectiveness of automobile brakes
7. it has been found in tumors of terminal cancer patients
He asked 50 people if they supported a ban of the chemical.
Forty-three (43) said yes,
Six (6) were undecided,
and only one (1) knew that the chemical,OXIDANE, was water.
The title of his prize winning project was, "How Gullible Are We?"
He feels the conclusion is obvious.

Everything happens for good

Technorati Tags:

A king in Africa had a close friend he grew up with. The friend had a habit of looking at every situation that ever occurred in his life (positive or negative) and remarking, "This is good!"

One day the king and his friend were out on a hunting expedition. The friend would load and prepare the guns for the king. The friend had apparently done something wrong in preparing one of the guns, for after taking the gun from his friend, the king fired it and his thumb was blown off.

Examining the situation the friend remarked as usual, "This is good!" To which the king replied, "No, this is NOT good!" and had his friend sent to jail.

About a year later, the king was hunting in an area that he should have known to stay clear of. Cannibals captured him and took them to their village. They tied his hands, stacked some wood, set up a stake and bound him to the stake. As they came near to set fire to the wood, they noticed that the king was missing a thumb.

Being superstitious, they never ate anyone that was less than whole. So untying the king, they sent him on his way. As he returned home, he was reminded of the event that had taken his thumb and felt remorse for his treatment of his friend.

He went immediately to the jail to speak with his friend. "You were right" he said, "it was good that my thumb was blown off." And he proceeded to tell his friend all that had just happened. "And so I am very sorry for sending you to jail for so long. It was bad for me to do this."

"No," his friend replied, "this is good!"

"What do you mean, 'This is good?!'" How could it be good that I sent my friend to jail for a year."

"If I had not been in jail, I would have been with you."

_________

This story is similar to the one I read when I was a kid, where a king gets his hand chopped of during a hunting expedition and his friend remarks that all that happens, happens for good.

King sends his friend to jail, only later he hears that an event he had to attend got ambushed by pirates and every one got killed. He himself would have attended it if it wasn't for his chopped arm!

Need For Speed:Shift

EA Announced in January that it would be releasing three NFS games.

Need for speed :Shift ,Need for Speed: Nitro and Need for Speed World Online.

After Pro Street this is EAs second attempt at Sim-racing.The last few NFS games have been  major disappointments. After the Underground series none of the NFS games have been able to please racing fans.

NFS shift

Simulation Racing

After a long stint as an arcade racer, Need for Speed is heading into simulation territory and will be going head-to-head against seasoned pros Gran Turismo and Forza.

What’s different in Shift?

Shift is all about your experience as a race drive, all the cars will be unlocked at the beginning itself!!

There are a variety of effects that makes you feel that EA is serious about the Sim racing scene this time. Some of the effects include crashes with effects like temporary vision blur after crashes, tunnel vision at high speeds, subtle reflections coming off the windshield, and heat haze emitted from engines, violent camera shakes with audio effects like such as a stress-induced spike in heart rate and even a sharp gasp of breath before impact etc.

The environments are also promised to be realistic, with animated crowds, race marshals, and LCD screens helping to re-create the race-day atmosphere.

It all seems great but I hope that EA is able to deliver this time.
